WASHINGTON, D.C. – The 21st Century Cures initiative legislative phase continues this week as Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO) join stakeholders to discuss #Cures2015. Upton and DeGette are participating in the 17th Annual BIO CEO & Investor Conference to discuss the #Cures2015 discussion document with several stakeholders to find new approaches for expediting the discovery, development, and delivery of promising treatments and cures.
BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood writes in The Hill, “Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) of the Committee on Energy and Commerce threw down the gauntlet by asking all stakeholders across the drug discovery, development and delivery spectrum the following question – How do we accelerate the pace of cures in America? Today, we will discuss this question during a plenary session at the 17th annual BIO CEO & Investor Conference featuring Reps. Upton and DeGette, who recognize that we are embarking on a new era that promises to transform health care through the use of next generation modern medicines and diagnostics that promise to save lives and reduce and eliminate suffering. … Failure is not an option for the patients we serve.”
